Remember God?

“What is prayer,” some may ask? Well, I believe that prayer is a personal conversation between an individual and God. It is when you go to God in secret, call upon His name, tell Him what you want Him to know and then wait for His response. Yes, prayer is a two-way street; it is when you talk to God and when He responds to you.
Prayer is foundational for most religions and is thus taught in many homes and churches. Though many people go through the learned ritual day in and day out, they seldom attain desired results or experience the full potential of prayer.
I’ve learned while growing up that prayer is the key to God’s kingdom and that prayer, coupled with your personal faith, unlocks doors that may be closed in your face. Now what does all of this mean to someone who has no idea what I’m talking about? Well….
Let’s use this analogy. Ever since you were a child, you’ve always wanted to be a teacher. Well you’ve passed all of your exams, you’ve earned your certification, and you’ve earned your degree. You enter into the job market only to find that due to the economic downturn, there’s a freeze on hiring. You feel discouraged and begin to feel like college and all of your hard work was just a waste. You begin to question God, “What did I do to deserve this?”
What you should do is go to God in prayer. Begin by praising and thanking Him for all of the things that He has done for you. Remind Him that you have done your part and that you are trusting and believing Him to do those things that you cannot. Place your request for a new job in His hands and listen for guidance. Continue to pray, praise, and thank Him for your new job. By keeping the faith and claiming the blessing, you are exercising faith—believing that only God has the power to change the minds of men. God will respond in either two ways. He will bless you with your dream job or explain that He has another agenda for your life. Either way, you should leave the experience both encouraged and informed.
I personally guarantee that God will not let you down. He is always there listening for all of His children—those of us who will stop for a minute to bow our hearts before Him in worship and thanksgiving. I reiterate that God is a not only a prayer answering God, but He is a God that wants to hold a conversation with you. He’s also a miracle worker waiting to perform a miracle in your life right now, so why don’t you give prayer a try!
